In short terms, there are many effects of flood in Thailand. These include the increasing price of supplies, the shortage of food and clean water causing high demands, mass migration, numerous of traffic jams, and transport problems. Since there is flooding throughout the central areas, many supplies cannot be transport to shops, markets, and malls. Lots of industries that are affected cannot produce goods. Clean drinking water become scarce and people are fighting for products to survive. Mass migration happens, people move out of Bangkok and affected cities to other provinces. However, when the flood goes down, these problems will improve. Traffic jams will be lesser and products can be transport as normal. Victims can go back to their homes, and hopefully manage to get everything back to normal. In long terms, the flood effects are such as insurance, decline in tourism, problems in the economics, lack of food crops due to the loss of fields, rebuilding costs, and various of reconstructions.
As an individual or community member I can do many things to help and give the victims hope. Not only me but also everyone, can sign up for various activities like creating EM balls, packing surviving kit bags, knitting safety vest, or packing sands into the plastic bags. If a person wants to have fun, he or she can go to charity concerts or buy t-shirts from celebrities. Another way is to volunteer and help out the people in the refugee center or out in the flood. The most easiest and quickest way for some people might be to just donate money, supplies, dry foods and animal foods. Nevertheless, we should also encourage family members, friends, or someone we know to help out and volunteers in these activities. From only thinking about helping the victims, we should take actions and do these things. Every support counts. Instead of playing games or watching news at home, why not go out, have fun, and help others? Following my moral compass, I need to be helpful and be a generous person. I am also thankful and satisfy for what I have and not being one of the victims.
